City staff will accompany the committee members on the buses to discuss the projects and answer questions. The tours will proceed rain or shine.
The proposed $596 million Bond Program will be allocated in four categories: Streets/Bridges/Sidewalks, Drainage, Parks, and Facilities/Community Initiatives. The election is planned for May 2012.
Mayor Julián Castro and City Council approved the recommended community members to serve on the four Bond committees. Mayor Castro appointed Lila Cockrell, Carri Baker Wells and Tessa Martinez Pollack as tri-chairs for the proposed 2012-2017 Bond Program.
The committee format consists of co-chairs for each committee appointed by the Mayor and 30 members per committee with each City Council Member appointing three of the members for each committee.
