Animal Care Services will host a FREE Microchip MANIA event this Friday! Free microchips are available for San Antonio Residents ONLY. Non-San Antonio residents may purchase a microchip for a low-cost of only $5 at the ACS Shelter located at 4710 Highway 151 - not at the Microchip Mania Event.
No appointments are needed and all pets are welcome but residents should ensure their animal companions are leashed or in an appropriate carrier.
Animal Care Services implanted microchips include basic lifetime registration and can be updated at any time without charge.
The onetime injection is similar to a vaccination and the microchip or “chip” is no bigger than a grain of rice. Local veterinary clinics and shelters (including the City’s ACS) scan animals upon intake with a special handheld device.
The pet’s microchip has a unique ID number (similar to a driver’s license number) which can be “read” by this scanner, helping trace the dog or cat back to the owner through their provided contact information.
It’s a dog-friendly weekend at the San Antonio Botanical Garden! Join us Saturday, December 2nd from 9am - 5pm with your furry friends! For more information, please visit http://www.sabot.org/event/dog-days-summer/
