David Ellison joined the City of San Antonio's leadership team on an interim basis in July 2011. After completing a national recruitment process, he was appointed Assistant City Manager in March 2012 by San Antonio's City Manager. David comes to the City of San Antonio with more than 30 uninterrupted years of service in local government leadership and administration.
Prior to working for the City of San Antonio, David completed his second stint as Assistant City Manager and second-in-command for the City of Scottsdale, Arizona. David has also served as an Assistant City Manager in Sugarland, Texas, Carrollton, Texas, Lubbock, Texas, and Mankato, Minnesota. He spent 8 1/2 years in Denton, Texas, his first organization, before departing as Assistant-to-the City Manager in the late 1980's.
