If passengers need directions, Ambassadors will point the way. If guests need assistance, these airport volunteers will lend a hand. Whether directing passengers to a connecting flight, helping to reunite long-lost loves or families, or even taking snapshots for people, there is no task too challenging for SAT s ambassadors. You ll be in great company! There are approximately 120 Ambassadors and they are recognized for their service of excellence. | USO |
| One of the many vital services provided at SAT is the accommodations at the airport's United Services Organization (USO) Center. For over 5 years, volunteers at SAT's USO Center have welcomed U.S. military personnel to a "home away from home" at the airport. The center is opened seven days a week and is located in the northernmost part of Terminal Two. Military personnel and their families are given the opportunity to enjoy this special place and to relax between flights before heading off to their next assignment. Our military service men and women need you. Volunteer today! |
| If you would like to learn more about the USO or are interested in volunteering, please call Alan Waterman, the USO Center Manager at awaterman@uso.org, or call (210) 218-8934 (airport) or (210) 227-9373, ext 12 (downtown). You can also contact Dawn Schultz, the USO Administrative Assistant at dschultz@uso.org or call (210) 227-9373, ext 11. |
| V.A.P. PROGRAM |
| Volunteer opportunities are now available with the Airport Police. |
|
With the increase in passenger air travel and construction of a new terminal, parking and roadway ahead, the Airport Police Division has had to draw on non-traditional resources in order to meet its mandate of providing a safe and secure environment for the traveling public and employees. Volunteers in Airport Policing (V.A.P.) was designed to help with that number one priority.
The idea is to recruit and train community volunteers to support current law enforcement and security personnel and place them in positions where they could be extra eyes and ears for the Airport Police. Some of the V.A.P. volunteer duties will consist of recognizing and reporting security violations, suspicious activity, assist with traffic control, patrol the parking areas, terminals and perimeter, issue parking violations, assist in special projects and unusual occurrences, and administrative support. In addition to increasing security, the program will also help enhance the division customer service level. The Volunteers in Airport Policing program is now actively seeking qualified volunteers. |
| For more information about the program please contact the Program Coordinator, Joe Mergele, at 210-207-3565. |
