LAND USE COMPATIBILITY

Llewelyn Davies Sahni was selected to prepare a Land Use and Development Study to establish guidelines regarding land use compatibility for areas surrounding both San Antonio International and Stinson Municipal Airports.  This project was identified and approved as part of the 1991 Noise Compatibility Program.

It is a requirement of our grant assurances with the FAA that land compatibility be addressed and implemented to the extent feasible as a tool to help mitigate noise impacts on surrounding areas.

The City of San Antonio is presently conducting a new land use compatibility study for properties near the airport.  The purpose of the study is to update the existing land uses and to develop a sub regional airport area land use plan to guide redevelopment and new development to maximize land use compatibility with the airport and its potential noise impact.  The study if adopted by City Council will serve as an interim land use guide until a new Airport Master Plan is adopted at which the plan will be reviewed and updated appropriately.
