SAN ANTONIO (October 12, 2017) – Councilman Greg Brockhouse joins San Antonio Housing Authority to help highlight the issue of affordable housing during Housing America Month by helping construct a three bedroom Habitat home for a District 6 resident on Friday, October 13, 2017.

The affordable home will be constructed in the Habitat for Humanity neighborhood of Lenwood Heights, a community on the Westside of District 6. This home is for Victoria Rodriguez, a hardworking mother who has worked at a local law firm for more than 20 years.

“It is great to see SAHA and Habitat giving back to the community. Lenwood Heights is a development that will help the surrounding local businesses thrive.” stated Councilman Brockhouse.

October is Housing America Month which celebrates and advocates for affordable housing through education, advocacy and empowerment. In a City where the population is expected to grow by a million over the next 20 years, SAHA is collaborating with Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio to expand housing. A City report determined 142,000 affordable units are needed to meet the housing demand.
