Councilman Brockhouse: We Should Have Discussed Amazon Bid

CONTACT: Joseph Lopez(210) 315-4366

SAN ANTONIO (October12, 2017) – The following comments are Councilman Brockhouse’s remarks on the discussion of not pursuing Amazon’s second headquarters.

“Our ability to grow as a City requires us to stretch our thinking and not underestimate our community. I am disappointed we did not discuss pursuing Amazon’s new headquarters. This decision was not made in conjunction with all City Council members and I had to learn about it on social media. All Members of City Council should have had input on the future of our City. I am not in favor of giving away the bank to lure corporate giants by any means. However, we could have been thoughtful, measured and aggressive within the goals and culture of the future we want for our San Antonio. It shows strength to compete and try to be something more, even when the odds are tough and difficult. Sometimes the process and struggle is worth the fight to find out who you are, what you need to improve and what you want to be in the future.”
