SAN ANTONIO (October 13, 2017) — This holiday season, the City of San Antonio will move the H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony to Travis Park, with plans to turn the downtown square into a winter wonderland. This marks the 33rd year San Antonio will celebrate the cherished H-E-B tree-lighting ceremony, which previously took place at Alamo Plaza.
Throughout the holidays at Travis Park, the City of San Antonio and CENTRO San Antonio will host a range of family-friendly, holiday-themed programming such as movie nights, live music shows, storytelling sessions, and photos with Santa.
H-E-B will kick-off the holiday festivities with the annual tree lighting ceremony on Friday, Nov. 24. The celebration is free and open to the public and is combining with CENTRO San Antonio’s Annual Lighting of Travis Park where over 250,000 holiday lights will be on display. Adorned with more than 10,000 environmentally-friendly LED lights and custom-made ornaments, the 55-foot White Fir tree is H-E-B’s gift to the city.
“The H-E-B Christmas tree creates lasting memories for people who live in and visit our beloved city,” said Dya Campos, H-E-B Public Affairs Director. “This year, with so much holiday fun planned at Travis Park, the H-E-B Christmas tree will be the beautiful centerpiece that highlights the cheerful festivities.”
