Travis Park offers an action-packed holiday season to remember!

Holiday event schedule announced with festive fun for the entire family

SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 17, 2017) — Celebrate the holidays at Travis Park! Enjoy free, family friendly events and a spectacular holiday light display every day beginning Nov. 24, 2017 through Jan. 7, 2018. 

H-E-B will kick off the holiday festivities with the annual tree lighting ceremony on Friday, Nov. 24. The celebration is free and open to the public and is combining with Centro San Antonio’s Annual Lighting of Travis Park where over 250,000 holiday lights will be on display. Adorned with more than 10,000 environmentally-friendly LED lights and custom-made ornaments, the 55-foot White Fir tree is H-E-B’s gift to the city. The H-E-B Christmas tree will be in Travis Park through Jan. 7, 2018.

“We invite residents and visitors to come downtown this holiday season, not just for the lighting ceremony, but for a wide array of programming in Travis Park and downtown,” said John Jacks, Center City Development & Operations Director. “Enjoy a ride on a new river barge and view the beautiful River Walk lights, come up to the street level and vote for your favorite holiday lighting display in the Mayor’s Light Up Downtown holiday lighting contest, and make your way to Travis Park for holiday themed movies, photos with Santa, live music, cocktails, and more!” 

The community is invited to attend events throughout the holidays at Travis Park, located at 301 E. Travis St. 

H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony & Centro San Antonio’s Annual Lighting of Travis Park
Friday, Nov. 24, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m., H-E-B Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m.
Prior to the lighting ceremony at 6 p.m., visitors can write letters  to Santa, enjoy a snow globe photo booth, gingerbread cookie making, an inflatable winter wonderland play areas for kids, and more! For more information, please visit www.facebook.com/events/1812574772375587.

Holiday Movies in the Park

Tuesday, Dec. 5, 12 and 19 and Saturday, Dec. 16, Activities begin at 5 p.m., Movie at 7 p.m.

Enjoy holiday classics under the backdrop of 250,000 twinkling lights in the heart of downtown. Guests can enjoy food trucks, free photos with Santa, and other fun holiday activities. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the City’s Downtown Tuesday program, which offers free parking in City-owned lots, garages and meters on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. -2 a.m.

Saturday, Dec. 16: “Frozen”

Tuesday, Dec. 19: “Home Alone”

 

Friday Night Lights!

Friday, Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 22, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Kick off the weekend with live holiday music by local performers, free photos with Santa, food trucks, holiday inspired adult beverages, and free gift wrapping services!

 

Saturday Family Days

Saturday, Nov. 25, Dec. 2, 16 and 30, 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Enjoy free family activities including photos with Santa, face painting, candy cane hunts, arts and crafts, storytelling, food trucks, hot chocolate, letters to Santa, and special surprise performances and guest appearances!

 

Winter Wonderland Health Fair

Saturday, Dec. 9, 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.

The City of San Antonio Metropolitan Health District presents its Winter Wonderland Health Fair at Travis Park with Zumba, health screenings, music, games and food.

Visitor Parking

There is ample parking near Travis Park. The City of San Antonio has several parking garages, lots and on-street meters near Travis Park, with the nearest one being the St. Mary’s Street Garage on the corner of Travis and St. Mary’s, which is immediately one block west of Travis Park. The St. Mary’s Street Garage offers $5 flat rate parking on non-event evenings and weekends. A full list of City-owned garages, lots and meters can be found at www.sanantonio.gov/CCDO/parking/parkingmap. In addition, there are numerous non-City owned lots and garages in the area where visitors can park, including the Travis Park Plaza Garage.
