SAN ANTONIO (May 15, 2018) Councilman Brockhouse has declared May 15th to June 15th, District 6 People and Pets Month. During this time we will focus on pets and responsible pet ownership. It is intended to raise awareness on pets in our lives, City services available to residents and responsible pet ownership to ensure public safety.
Councilman Brockhouse and the District 6 Team will be hosting and partnering with Animal Care Services (ACS) and other agencies for various events throughout the month. Along with these events, the District 6 Team will be conducting two Animal Care Service Sweeps within the District.
“This initiative is near and dear to my heart. Being a pet owner who loves his dogs (Vito and Charlotte Brockhouse), I am happy to bring services and education to the residents and pets of District 6. We are not just sharing information, but also hosting events and taking action. We will educate and help pet owners with resources that focus on responsible pet ownership and public safety. Our pets are our family members. We need to encourage compassion for our while protecting our neighborhoods.” stated Councilman Brockhouse.
The final event of the month, “The District 6 People and Pets” event will be held on Saturday, June 9th from 6 pm – 8 pm at the Potranco Branch Library/YMCA (8765 Hwy 151, 78245). This FREE family event will be open to the entire City of San Antonio to have some summer fun with music, bounce houses, face painter, food trucks, giveaways, Animal related resource tables, FREE microchipping for City residents and more. The evening will end with a showing of "The Secret Life of Pets" at Dusk.
