Mayor Julián Castro and the City Council have announced the list of appointees to the Healthcare and Retirement Benefits Task Force that will review the cost of healthcare and pension expenses for uniformed, civilian and retired City of San Antonio employees.
The Task Force will be chaired by former City Councilman W. Reed Williams and includes employees, retirees, business leaders and subject matter experts. It will examine best practices from other cities and municipalities, and prepare a final report to include short-term and long-term recommendations on the management of future healthcare and pension costs.
It is comprised of 14 members: W. Reed Williams, Task Force Chair; Celina Burns, Community Business Leader; Ed White, Community Business Leader; Shannon Perez, Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Representative; Rosemary Calvillo, Community Business Leader with Healthcare Expertise; Sam Dawson, Community Business Leader with Pension Expertise; Buddy Morris, Community Business Leader with Healthcare Expertise; Rebecca Waldman, City of San Antonio Civilian Retiree Representative; Randy McGraw, San Antonio Police Officers Association (SAPOA) Representative; Lt. Jerry Cortes, San Antonio Professional Firefighters Association (SAPFFA) Representative; Warren Schott, Community Business Leader with Pension Expertise; Jerry Clancy, Police and Fire Uniform Retiree Representative; and Sheryl Sculley, City Manager.
The Task Force’s final recommendations will be presented to the Mayor and City Council at a “B” Session in February 2014.
