The Office of the City Clerk Vital Records Division was named and recognized as a “Five Star Award Winner” by the State’s Unit of Vital Statistics. This prestigious honor is given for excellence in filing vital records with the State of Texas. In addition Tina J. Flores, Local Registrar, was awarded certification as a Master Registrar.
The 2013 Annual Vital Statistics Conference was held December 11-13 in Austin. San Antonio City Clerk Leticia M. Vacek attended the conference and accepted the award.
“I am proud of all of the staff and the work that has been achieved to receive this recognition and we will strive to achieve the highest level next year of Exemplary Status,” Vacek said.
The conference brought together a variety of professionals from across the state. Local registrars; county, city, and district clerks; and representatives from funeral homes, hospitals and birthing centers participated in conference sessions relevant to birth, death, and marriage records.
The Master Registrar Certification is a five-day course comprised of a small group of local registrars and deputies from around the state. The certification provides them with a deeper understanding of vital registration and issuance through the statutory framework of vital statistics, best practices and working collaboratively with the processes at the federal, state and local level.
