District 8 City Councilman Ron Nirenberg has been appointed to the National League of Cities (NLC) 2014 Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Steering Committee, NLC President Chris Coleman announced. This committee has the lead responsibility for developing NLC federal policy positions on issues involving air quality, water quality, energy policy, national wetlands policy, and waste management.
“I look forward to working with municipal leaders nationwide on challenges that we share here in San Antonio,” said Councilman Nirenberg. “Locally, our economy and quality of life hinge on good policy decisions regarding the Edwards Aquifer in particular, and how we harness the potential of the Eagle Ford Shale.”
Councilman Nirenberg is also an appointee to the Alamo Area Council of Governments and the City Intergovernmental Relations Committee.
The National League of Cities (NLC) is dedicated to helping city leaders build better communities. NLC is a resource and advocate for 19,000 cities, towns and villages, representing more than 218 million Americans.
