District 2 Councilwoman Ivy R. Taylor will host a community meeting to discuss redevelopment of the Red Berry Estate on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at the Red Berry Estate, 856 Gembler Road, from 9:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The community can take a tour of the estate from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
“I look forward to discussing the possibilities for redevelopment of this important property as part of our continuing Eastside Revitalization initiative,” said Councilwoman Taylor.
In August, City Council approved an ordinance authorizing the purchase of the Red Berry Estate for $2,250,000. The Red Berry Estate includes the 14,300 square foot Red Berry Mansion with a manmade lake, pecan tree grove and acres of vacant land. The estate is adjacent to the Willow Springs Golf Course and the Salado Creek Bike Trail. Future possibilities for the estate may include new housing development.
