Residents active in maintaining properties, managing building maintenance projects, and ensuring rental properties are occupied are invited to apply for the Multi-Family Rental Property Manager Position needed for the City’s Building Standards Board. Applications are available at www.sanantonio.gov/clerk/boards by selecting “Apply for Boards and Commissions.” The position will remain open until filled.
In May 2011, the San Antonio City Council approved a new ordinance to strengthen, update and clarify minimum property maintenance requirements for property owners and tenants. This included a reconstitution of the City-staffed Dangerous Structures Determination Board (DSDB) into the 14-member, citizen-based Building Standards Board appointed by the City Council. The Building Standards Board hears and rules on appeals and violations of the San Antonio Property Maintenance Code and summary abatement appeals. The Building Standards Board also rules on cases related to the repair or demolition of unsafe structures.
