The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (Metro Health) will offer free HIV and syphilis testing at this year’s PRIDE festivities on July 5 starting at 11 a.m. at Crockett Park located at 1300 North Main Street.
All individuals who receive a test at our booth will be given a bag filled with education materials and they will also get to spin the prize wheel for an additional gift.
Metro Health, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will promote the “Reasons/Razones” campaign. CDC launched the campaign as the first national, bilingual communications campaign to promote HIV testing among not only gay Latino men, but also bisexual Latino men. These groups are among the hardest hit by HIV in the United States.
The campaign asks gay and bisexual Latinos "What's your reason?/¿Cuál es tu razón?" for getting an HIV test through a series of campaign materials that feature men sharing their reasons for getting tested while encouraging others to get tested as well. Reasons/Razones also provides information about getting fast, free, and confidential HIV testing. Reasons will have a photo booth at the event for people to get their photos and post them on social media sites, as seen in this example. For more information on the campaign visit
