The San Antonio River Walk is nationally and internationally recognized as one of the top travel destinations in Texas. The service provided by the river barge concession operator plays a vital role in enhancing this River Walk experience. The City of San Antonio, through its Center City Development and Operations Department, has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the operation of the River Barge Concession on the San Antonio River. The RFP seeks respondents whose proposals will ensure the River Walk remains a “must-see” destination while providing superior services to San Antonio visitors and residents alike. The deadline to submit proposals is 4 p.m. on Monday, Sep. 15, 2014.
The selected firm will enter a 10-year license agreement and be responsible for ownership, management, and operation of the river barges and river barge concession in the downtown portion of the river. Operations include tour services, charters, taxi service, retail sales, as well as regularly scheduled, reliable, and affordable barge service that will serve as a legitimate transportation option linking downtown to Museum Reach destinations. Interested parties are encouraged to attend a Pre-Submittal Conference and site tour, which will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 9 a.m. in the C Room of the Municipal Plaza Building, 114 W. Commerce. An additional site tour of both marinas will be conducted Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 9 a.m. at 202 E. Nueva St.
Respondents may not communicate with elected City officials or City employees from the time the RFP has been released until the contract is awarded. However, respondents may ask verbal questions concerning the RFP during the Pre-Submittal Conference. Respondents may also submit written questions concerning the RFP via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org until 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 15, 2014. For more information on communication restrictions and to view the RFP, visit sanantonio.gov/purchasing.
