A total of four City Councilmembers submitted their Letter of Interest to City Clerk Leticia Vacek by the deadline of 5 p.m. on July 16, 2014. Vacek received letters from Councilmember Ron Nirenberg, District 8; Councilmember Ray Lopez, District 6; Councilmember Ivy R. Taylor, District 2; and Councilmember Shirley Gonzales, District 5.
The City Council is scheduled to vote on the Mayoral Replacement on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at a Special Called City Council Meeting at 9 a.m. in the City Council Chambers. The Term of Office for the Councilmember elected Mayor will end on May 31, 2015.
Letters of Interests from Councilmembers were required as a result of Mayor Julián Castro’s appointment as U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary.
