Even with June temperatures expected to sizzle, there’s no need to sweat. Downtown Tuesday is planning a number of summer events to help keep everyone cool.
An Evening in Alamo Plaza
This event features an evening of live entertainment by Villela and food trucks that will offer their culinary specialties from 5 to 8 p.m. May 28 in Alamo Plaza. Bite Street Bistro, Sensational Salad, Cheesy Jane’s, and other food trucks will be parked at the plaza.
Movies By Moonlight
Families are invited to bring an ice chest and lawn chairs to “Movies By Moonlight” every Tuesday in June and July at HemisFair Park. Pre-show entertainment is at 7:30 p.m. The feature film starts at 8:30 p.m. The movie schedule for June is as follows:
- June 4: “Brave”
- June 11: “Despicable Me”
- June 18: “Thumbelina”
- June 25: “The Ant Bully”

Houston Street Jazz Festival and The Sound of the Trio
This event is a jazz music enthusiast’s dream. Free street performers will play jazz on Houston Street starting at 5 p.m. on June 11. Several restaurants will offer Downtown Tuesday specials, and families can make this night special with dinner and a free show.
Just a few blocks away, expect nothing short of top-notch jazz and a great time as the Brent Watkins Trio treats audiences to a night of jazz at 7:30 p.m. on June 11 at the Charline McCombs Empire Theater. Watkins is a pianist, arranger and band-leader in San Antonio. Tyler Jackson and Dean Macomber complete the trio on upright bass and drums, respectively. An Evening in Travis Park
This is a fun-filled, summer evening with food trucks, music by DJ Fuzion and an opportunity to adopt a dog or cat from Animal Care Services. The event is from 5 to 8 p.m. on June 25 at Travis Park.
