District 6 Councilman Ray Lopez, in coordination with the Cable Westwood Neighborhood Association, will provide residents of District 6 with information regarding the recent flood event. The meeting will be held at Cable Elementary, 1706 Pinn Rd., on Tuesday June 4, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. and will include multiple City departments that are involved in recovery efforts. Residents who have been affected by the flood are encouraged to attend.
Residents are still being urged to contact 3-1-1 to report flood damage to their homes so that proper resources can be deployed. The San Antonio Office of Emergency Management (SAOEM) is in recovery operations and is coordinating with critical recovery agencies and determining which areas will need further assistance in the cleaning and removal of bulk, water contaminated items such as carpet, furniture and sheetrock.
Residents in the Cable Westwood area were hit particularly hard by flood waters and have shown incredible resilience as recovery operations have now begun.
“Residents in this area are some of the hardest working folks I know, and the way they are coming together to help one another is just an amazing thing to see,” said Councilman Lopez.
To date, the 311 Customer Call Center has received a report of approximately 212 residential structures (single family homes, mobile homes, multi-home units (apartment complexes) affected by flooding including 35 that were destroyed.
