As a family man, small business owner, military veteran, and San Antonio native, Cris Medina uniquely reflects the values of the families in Council District 7. On City Council, he is focused on addressing and supporting the priorities of the taxpayers whom he represents: safe neighborhoods, good jobs, good schools and a city government that is responsive to their needs.
Throughout his career, Cris has served the community in numerous capacities including Past President of the French Creek Village Homeowners Association, a Member of the Woodlawn Lake Community Association; a past Representative on the City's Community Action Advisory Board; Graduate of the City of San Antonio's Municipal Leadership Institute; and a Graduate of the City's Citizen's Academy. Cris has also dedicated his time to serving and volunteering for numerous non-profit organizations such as: Board Member for Voz de Mujer Inc.; Mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas; Volunteer with Meals on Wheels; Member with the San Antonio Police Department's Cellular on Patrol Program; and Councilmember for the Salvation Army's William and Catherine Booth Senior Apartments Advisory Council.
As a small business owner, Cris is CEO and Owner of Diligent Mechanical, a small, veteran-owned business enterprise specializing in Project Management for Mechanical/Electrical and Plumbing projects. He is also a 2010 graduate of one of San Antonio's most distinguished leadership programs, the Alex Briseno Leadership Development Program, sponsored by the San Antonio Hispanic and Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce. Cris' past professional experience includes serving as Chief of Staff to former District 7 City Councilman, Justin Rodriguez. In this capacity, he successfully managed all staff on personnel, policy and community outreach initiatives for the office and built strong relationships with community leaders and stakeholders across District 7.
Cris is also dedicated to the pursuit of higher education and service to his country. Upon graduation from Somerset High School in 1998, Cris has gone on to earn an Associate of Arts in Government from Palo Alto College, an Associate of Arts in Air Transportation from the Community College of the Air Force and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Presently, Cris is a graduate candidate for a Master of Public Administration degree from St. Mary's University. As a veteran, Cris has proudly served our country as a member of our Armed Forces. He enlisted in 2002 with the Air Force Reserve's 433d Airlift Wing, Lackland AFB, TX, where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon being honorably discharged in 2008, he was commissioned as a Naval Reserve Officer in June 2010.
Cris and his wife Jacqueline, a 1999 Jefferson High School graduate and former "Lasso" reside in the French Creek Village neighborhood, along with their two sons, CJ and Joaquin. As proud parents, they enjoy family outings to O.P. Schnabel and Nani Falcone Parks. Cris and his family attend St. Paul's Church and are active supporters of several parish communities in the distict.
