Ron Nirenberg was first elected to San Antonio's District 8 City Council in 2013 and was reelected in 2015. During his tenure, Councilman Nirenberg has focused on solutions to San Antonio’s deepest challenges, including improving transportation infrastructure, ensuring the city’s sustainability through environmental and economic initiatives, embracing new technology, closing the workforce skills gap and creating jobs.
As Tri-Chair of SA Tomorrow, he leads the charge in helping city leaders execute citizen-directed strategies to prepare for significant population growth by focusing on housing, transportation, health and wellness, natural resources management and economic development. Councilman Nirenberg also serves as board member of the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, where he works on region-wide transportation solutions to alleviate congestion in one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the nation.
