The City of San Antonio Office of the City Clerk has reached a milestone by generating more than $1 million from Passport Revenue for the City’s General Fund.
On May 24 2010, the U.S. Department of State designated the Office of the City Clerk as a Passport Acceptance Facility. The Office of the City Clerk has two locations to serve individuals applying for a Passport. Locations are 719 S. Santa Rosa and at the 2nd Floor of City Hall, 100 Military Plaza. Both locations are open Monday – Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“I am very happy to provide the much needed Passport Services to our community. This program began with a thought after my tedious personal experience. Once the Mayor and Council gave me the green light to explore this possibility, the Program has bloomed into a Full Service Division that has generated more than $1 million to the City,” said San Antonio City Clerk Leticia M. Vacek.
Individuals interested in applying for a passport can appear at either of the two locations on a walk-in basis. Both offices offer passport photographs for an additional cost. The Santa Rosa location offers free parking and is also located next to the Vital Records Office. Said office can provide the required certified long form birth certificate for individuals born in San Antonio for a $23 fee.
The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) requires all persons traveling outside of the United State to present a Passport to re-enter the United States. There are a limited number of Passport Acceptance Facility locations in Bexar County.
