SAN ANTONIO (August 8, 2014) – Councilman Ray Lopez of District 6, City officials and area residents celebrated the end of construction at Tom Slick Park. After just three months, park visitors were able to start using a new basketball court and added shade structures at the end of June.
“With plenty of summertime left for kids and adults to enjoy it, we finished up improvements at Tom Slick Park,” said Councilman Lopez. “The addition of the basketball court and shade structures make this park a better amenity for residents in District 6.”
The Tom Slick Park project was constructed by Consolidated Installation Support, LLC (CIS), the first local African-American Business Enterprise awarded a project as a prime contractor.
"We're happy deliver these improvements on time and on budget," said Mike Frisbie, City Engineer and Director of Transportation & Capital Improvements.
The Tom Slick Park project was managed by Transportation & Capital Improvements on behalf of the Parks and Recreation Department. The design by Bender Wells Clark Design was constructed by CIS, LLC. The project is funded with $375,000 from the 2012-2017 Bond Program.
