In an effort to increase awareness of the health issues that most often affect senior citizens, Councilwoman Elisa Chan has extended a free health screening program in the District 9 area.
Throughout the month of April – Parkinson’s Awareness Month – seniors can get free health screenings 9 to 11 a.m. every Monday and Tuesday at Parkhills Baptist Church located at 17747 San Pedro Ave. (southwest corner of U.S. 281 and Loop 1604).
Healthcare professionals from Accolade Home are will screen seniors for cholesterol, blood pressure, pulse, weight & oxygen saturation, body mass index, memory care, lower extremity management and total body assessment.
“We have had a positive response from the community since we began this program in February,” said Councilwoman Chan. “If you haven’t had a chance to make it out yet, there will be more opportunities now that we have extended the program.”
The next round of health screenings will take place on Monday, April 1, and Tuesday, April 2. There will be no screening events on April 22 and April 23 due to Fiesta Week.
Please contact the District 9 Field Office at (210) 207-0955 for more information about this program and other senior initiatives through District 9.
