More than 100 volunteers will abate graffiti at nearly 100 locations throughout District 4 in a single day when Councilman Rey Saldaña hosts the District 4 Graffiti Wipe-out event on Saturday, July 27, 2013.
“What would it be like to have all of District 4 free of graffiti? That was the question we asked ourselves when we came up with the idea of having a ‘graffiti flash mob,’ to abate graffiti in the district,” said Councilman Saldaña. “We wanted to find a way to get as many community members involved in wiping out graffiti in one day.”
With the help of a committed staff of District 4 Council office summer interns, the Council office identified these 100 locations district-wide where graffiti will be abated. A map of the locations is available at the District 4 website
. The more than 100 volunteers who have committed to participating were encouraged to register through the District 4 website, as well.
The District 4 Graffiti Wipe-out event will begin at the District 4 Field office, 5102 Old Pearsall Rd., at 9:30 a.m. Groups will then be given supplies and sent to their designated locations. Volunteers will receive a free t-shirt, and breakfast and lunch will be provided. For more information, call (210) 207-0892.
