The City of San Antonio Office of Historic Preservation and the Historic and Design Review Commission received a 2012 Commission Excellence Award from the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions for "Best Practices: Public Outreach and Advocacy." The award was presented at the NAPC Forum in Norfolk, Virginia, in front of a national audience.
The Office of Historic Preservation's public outreach and advocacy program includes numerous activities for Historic Preservation in May each year, the S.T.A.R. (Students Together Achieving Revitalization) Project, Go! Historic SA Guided Running and Walking Tours, Window Rehabilitation Workshops, realtor training and much more.
