The City of San Antonio’s Office of Historic Preservation announces the next “Go! Historic SA Guided Running & Walking Tour” on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at 6 p.m. featuring festive holiday lighting that includes trees draped in light.
The City’s lights on the River Walk and the more than 60 downtown buildings participating in the Mayor’s Light Up Downtown Holiday Contest provide an alluring backdrop for the guided tour of historic downtown. This is the second year for the Light Up Downtown contest, and the number of buildings participating has doubled from last year. After the tour, participants can vote for their favorite lighting displays and help select this year’s winners. This family-friendly tour is the perfect way for locals to learn more about their city and get into the holiday spirit.
Tour participants will start and finish the tour at the Casa Navarro State Historic Site located at 228 S. Laredo. The route is approximately 2.25 miles and takes participants in small guided groups to historic sites including Main Plaza, Houston Street, La Villita, the River Walk, the Alamo, and more.
Runners and walkers of all abilities are welcome. Participants will be divided into small groups according to their preference to run, walk, or jog. The tour is $15 per person and includes a t-shirt. Registration is available at active.com
