Hosted by Councilwoman Leticia Ozuna, District 3 students and their families are invited to the district’s Backpack Giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Brooks City-Base Health and Wellness Center, 2860 Louis Bauer.
The fair will provide hearing screenings, fingerprinting services for identification, toothbrushes, and help children to fill out library card applications. The first 500 school-aged children (first come, first serve) will receive backpacks filled with school supplies such as pens, pencils, and notebooks. N.O.D. Performance and Stone Oak Athletics will host free fitness camps outside during the event. This is a free event made possible by the generous donations from District 3 community partners and will provide a great opportunity to help prepare children for the upcoming school year.
Council District 3 and the Brooks City-Base Health and Wellness Center would like to thank the following sponsors and donors for their hard work and support: N.O.D. Performance, A Tooth Doctor for Kids, Stone Oak Athletics, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas, Inc., Texas Roadhouse, City of San Antonio, CPS Energy, San Antonio Water System, San Antonio Police Officers Association, the San Antonio Public Library, and Jerry Rowray of NewSound Hearing Aid Centers.
