While saving human lives is the highest priority of the San Antonio Fire Department, pets are also part of the family. Pets may be more vulnerable to smoke inhalation during fires because they may hide, and human oxygen masks do not properly fit an animal’s face.
On Nov. 8, rezQpets donated eight pet oxygen masks to SAFD to help resuscitate pets suffering from smoke inhalation. The pet oxygen masks are specially designed cone-shaped masks that come in three different sizes. SAFD currently has several pet oxygen masks thanks to previous donations and with this current donation, more SAFD firefighters will be equipped with these life-saving devices.
