On March 1, the City held a ribbon cutting ceremony to officially open the second bulky waste collection center located at 1531 Frio City Road.
This center, located in the southwest side of San Antonio, provides residents with a location to dispose of bulky items such as appliances, auto parts, car tires, old furniture, barbecue grills, among other things, for free.
The Center allows San Antonio residents, even those living in apartments or gated communities, to dispose of items for free that they may have lying around. When visiting the center, residents should bring their most recent CPS Energy utility bill showing the Solid Waste environmental fee.
The Frio City Road Center and the Bitters Bulky Collection Center located at 1800 Bitters Road were FY 2012 budget initiatives. The City invested approximately $1.5 million for capital improvements in each center. Official business hours will be Tuesday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon.
