In celebration of National Archives Month, the City of San Antonio Office of the City Clerk invites the community to a series of open house events during October at the Municipal Archives and Records Facility, 719 S. Santa Rosa St., to learn about the history and preservation of San Antonio.
The open house events will take place from 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9; Monday, October 15; Tuesday, October 23; and Tuesday, October 30.
Staff from the Office of the City Clerk will be available to show attendees how to search and access documents such as City minutes books, survey books, maps, birth and death records, election records, and more using the Office of the City Clerk's website, sanantonio.gov/clerk/archives. Also during the open house events, attendees can view a display of treasured archived documents related to the city's history, including a penned letter by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, dated April 18, 1843; a penned letter by Porfirio Diaz, President of Mexico, dated Nov. 27, 1895; and other documents.
