The Pre-K 4 SA Board of Directors has selected Frog Street Press (FSP) as the curriculum for the Pre-K 4 SA program, with a supplemental curriculum package from Teaching Strategies. The value of the contracts is $540,000.
“After several meetings and interviews with the nine curriculum companies that responded to our Request for Proposal, as well as input from the public, the Pre-K 4 SA Board of Directors feels strongly that Frog Street Press will provide the best comprehensive Pre-K curriculum for our children enrolled in the program,” said Kathy Bruck, Pre-K 4 SA Interim CEO.
Frog Street Press (FSP) specializes in early childhood educational resources and effective teaching strategies for young children. Privately owned and located in Grapevine, Texas, FSP publishes curriculum to classrooms nationwide.
Teaching Strategies is a Bethesda, Maryland-based educational publishing company. It serves the early childhood community by bringing curriculum, assessment, professional development, and family connection resources to programs serving children from birth through kindergarten.
“Our team at Frog Street is very proud to be partnering with the City of San Antonio to meet the goals of Pre-K 4 SA,” said Ron Chase, CEO of Frog Street Press. “We have received overwhelming feedback from the market about the quality of Frog Street Pre-K, and today is another example of that.
“The curriculum is innovative for today’s market and was created using brain research strategies that take into account how children learn. We believe it’s the best available, and it seems that teachers and administrators agree. Frog Street is committed to support the academic and social-emotional success of each and every student enrolled in PreK4SA.”
A Curriculum Review Committee – consisting of early childhood educators and experts from area school districts and institutions of higher learning – closely reviewed FSP’s curriculum in the areas of Math, Science, Literacy, English/Spanish/EEL, Oral/Language Vocabulary, Writing and Parent/Home Connection, Enjoyment, Technology, and Assessment, among others.
“Frog Street Press scored high in all of these categories,” Bruck said, “and we were looking for a company that had strengths in these areas.
