In an effort to encourage residents to take advantage of a wide variety of free and low cost wellness activities offered throughout the city, the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department and the Mayor’s Fitness Council are inviting residents to participate in Fit Pass SA. The interactive wellness program encourages participants to stay active and improve their nutrition and overall wellness by offering them the opportunity to win prizes.
Residents can pick up a free Fit Pass SA activity passport, available in both English and Spanish, at any Fit Pass SA event or they can be downloaded online at www.FitCitySA.com. Passports are also available for pickup (one per person) at the following locations during normal business hours:
- Enrique Barrera Fitness Center, 5800 Old Hwy. 90 W.
- Lou Hamilton Community Center, 10700 Nacogdoches
- Copernicus Community Center, 5003 Lord Rd.
- Ramirez Community Center, 1011 Gillette
The next step is to choose a variety of activities or events in the passport to participate in through March 1, 2014. Fit Pass SA staff members will be on site at each event to stamp passports, giving points for participation.
Participants who accumulate 50 or more total points (and turn their passport in by March 1, 2014) will earn a Fit Pass SA gift pack and will be entered into the grand prize drawing to take place at the Siclovia event in March 2014. Grand prizes include bicycles, gift certificates, gaming systems, fitness equipment, and more. The top overall adult and youth point earners will also be awarded grand prizes.
Participants are encouraged to follow the Fit Pass SA program on Twitter @SAParksFitness for event details, Fit Pass SA updates, new event additions, full program rules, and ongoing prize contests.
Passports must be returned to the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department no later than March 1, 2014, in order for Fit Pass SA participants to earn their reward and to be entered into the grand prize drawing. Passports can be returned to any Fit Pass SA representative on site at Fit Pass SA listed events. Passports may also be delivered or mailed to the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department, 5800 Old Highway 90 W., San Antonio, Texas, 78227, Attention: Fit Pass SA. Mailed passports must be postmarked no later than March 1, 2014.
