The Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Prevention Program at the San Antonio International Airport celebrated its 5th year anniversary. The program was designed to address and resolve FOD issues and establish a culture of safety that promotes awareness. FOD at airports can cause damage that costs airlines, airports and airport tenants millions of dollars every year. FOD types vary from a pebble to wildlife and are easily ingested or projected by a jet engine or propellers.
As the leader in FOD prevention, the San Antonio International Airport is nationally recognized by the Federal Aviation Administration and has inspired other airports to model the program. The program is an essential component of the Airport’s Safety Management System that focuses on risk management through effective policy and promotion. Congratulations to the San Antonio International Airport!
