Active Family Fun Day, sponsored by the City’s Parks and Recreation Department, offers families the opportunity to get active, with contests, games, activities and refreshments. The free event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Ramirez Community Center in Arnold Park, 1011 Gillette Blvd.
Parents, children and the entire extended family can play games together, including a putt putt obstacle course; a soccer shoot-out; a football toss; a bean bag toss; a pitch, hit and run competition; checkers; Jenga; Lego’s; horseshoes; and croquet. Face painting and spin art also add to the festivities.
Vendors from area businesses, such as the Smile Center, Planet Fitness and Community First, will offer important health information.
Participants are invited to wear their workout clothes and take part in a Fitness in the Park Boot Camp or Zumba class or sit back and enjoy a karate demonstration.
Children can get in on even more action by participating in a Kid Fit SA (Kids Boot Camp) class also offered as part of the Parks and Recreation Department’s free Fitness in the Park program. Participation in this class or any Active Family Fun Day event earns Fit Pass SA participants five Fit Pass points.
Fit Pass SA is an interactive wellness program that encourages participants to stay active and improve their nutrition and overall wellness by offering them the opportunity to win prizes. Visit www.fitcitysa.com for more information on the Fit Pass SA program.
