The project designed to improve drainage and traffic in the Broadway-Hildebrand area is now underway. San Antonio residents who live, work or play in the Broadway-Hildebrand area can keep themselves up-to-date with news about lane closures, detours and upcoming work. Information about the Broadway-Hildebrand construction project is added to the Capital Improvements Management Services website weekly. Residents can also follow @ProjectBroadway on Twitter for instant updates.
The Broadway-Hildebrand Project will be under construction for about 18 months. The $15.5 million project is funded through the 2007 Bond that was approved by voters. It will provide a drainage system designed to convey a 100-year storm event across Broadway Street, improving driving conditions and safety along Broadway Street and Hildebrand Avenue. The project also includes reconstruction of Broadway and Hildebrand with curbs, sidewalks, driveway approaches, addition of turn lanes and traffic signal improvements. SAWS and CPS Energy will be replacing and adjusting the water, sewer and gas facilities throughout the project area. In addition, this project includes the construction of the approved Broadway Street/Hildebrand Avenue underground conversion project as part of the CPS Energy CIED Program to bury all overhead utility lines at the four corners of the intersection.
