Novel H1N1 Flu Vaccination Clinic Continues Today at Alamodome
Nearly 2,000 people received free vaccinations during first day of two-day clinic
San Antonio’s public health team will continue to provide free vaccinations during a community clinic today to protect individuals against the novel H1N1 influenza. The event is scheduled from 12 noon to 8:00 p.m. at the Alamodome, 100 Montana, with free parking in Lot A. Vaccinations are available in both injectable and nasal spray form.
Nearly 2,000 people of all ages attended the first day of the two-day clinic yesterday. The average wait time to receive the vaccine ranged from 20 to 45 minutes, with almost immediate service available between the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The clinic is free and open to the general public. Individuals who are pregnant or have chronic health conditions are particularly encouraged to get vaccinated so they can have the best protection possible against the novel H1N1 influenza. Those seeking vaccinations are advised to wear short-sleeve shirts or tops and comfortable walking shoes. Children under the age of 10 years who have already received their first dose of the novel H1N1 vaccine and are not expecting to receive the second at school or their health care provider should also bring any record indicating the first immunization.
Vaccinations are also available at several other sources in the community, including private health care providers, pharmacies, and various clinics. Click here to locate vaccine in the community through the flu locator.
