What: Central Library Commemorates 9/11
Where: Central Library, 600 Soledad
When: Monday, September 11, 2006
The Central Library will commemorate the five-year anniversary of 9/11
with a visual memorial over the downtown San Antonio skyline on Monday,
September 11, 2006. Two twin searchlights will be directed into the night
sky to represent the two fallen World Trade Center towers.
Sky-view Company of San Antonio generously assisted in creating this
memorial, and American Payroll Association is also an event participant.
This visual memorial will also mark the final night to view the return
engagement of Mark Roddenberry’s powerful photographic 9/11 exhibit, “Avenue
of the Strongest.” The exhibit, suitable for all audiences, sensitively
chronicles the scene in New York City, as captured by Roddenberry, who was
there that tragic day.
"Avenue of the Strongest" can be viewed in the Central Library Gallery
this weekend, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. One
hour of free parking is available in the Central Library parking garage with
a validated ticket. For more information, the public may call 207-2500.
