Lt. Raul Crisantez and Lt. Juan Valencia
Lieutenants Raul Crisantez and Juan Valencia command the two Sections of the Park Police and make up the rest of the Park Police Command Staff.
Lieutenant Juan M. Valencia
Lieutenant Juan M. Valencia currently commands the Riverwalk Section of the San Antonio Park Police. Lieutenant Valencia is a veteran of the San Antonio Park Police with over 30 years experience. Starting his career as a Probationary Park Ranger on New Year’s Eve in 1979, he has moved through the ranks of the Park Rangers / Park Police from Patrol Officer, to Corporal, to Sergeant, and then to his current rank of Lieutenant. He has served as a Patrol Officer on both the Riverwalk and on District Patrol, a Corporal (assistant to the assigned Sergeant) on the Riverwalk, and as both a Riverwalk and a District Shift Sergeant.
Lieutenant Valencia assisted the Park Police Academy for many years as an adjunct instructor. He developed and presented courses in Riverwalk Flood Control Operations, Texas Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedures, San Antonio City Ordinances, Police Tactics, and Police Supervisor Leadership Courses. Lieutenant Valencia holds a Master Peace Officer’s License and a Police Instructor’s License from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Education. He has been married for over 30 years and has two daughters.
Lieutenant Raul Crisantez
Lieutenant Raul Crisantez currently commands the District Patrol Section of the San Antonio Park Police. The District Patrol Section incorporates the District Patrol Shifts as well as several specialized units (C.O.R.E. Unit, Covert Operations Unit, and the Bike & ATV Units). Lieutenant Crisantez joined the Park Police as a Lieutenant after serving 33 years with the San Antonio Police Department, retiring in 2002 at the rank of San Antonio Police Lieutenant. During his career with San Antonio Police Department he held numerous positions including Patrol Officer, Detective Investigator, Patrol Sergeant, Substation Shift Director, Applicant Processing Supervisor, and Assistant to the Chief of Police to name but a few.
Lieutenant Crisantez holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from UTSA and a Master Peace Officer License from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
