San Antonio, TX (June 9, 2017) — On Saturday, June 10, San Antonio Parks and Recreation and the San Antonio Parks Foundation will join forces with Citi for their 12th Global Community Day. This initiative is part of a new partnership between Citi and the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) where Citi employees work directly with local park and recreation agencies on a community service project. In San Antonio, Citi will assist San Antonio Parks and Recreation and the San Antonio Parks Foundation with a service day at the Japanese Tea Garden by planting and mulching the garden beds.
“This collaboration with the San Antonio Parks Foundation, with support from Citi and NRPA, highlights the importance of partnerships to engage our community and promote stewardship within our park system,” said Xavier D. Urrutia, Director, Parks and Recreation Department. “The time invested by volunteers is significant and their efforts will contribute to enhancing the unique beauty associated with the Japanese Tea Garden.”
"The Citi Foundation is proud to collaborate this year with the National Recreation and Park Association to revitalize our city parks and improve the health of our communities," said Brandee McHale, Director of Corporate Citizenship, Citi. "These service projects at local parks and recreation centers are a vital part of Citi’s 12th annual Global Community Day, where hundreds of Citi volunteers across the country will work alongside community partners to make a difference in neighborhoods where we live and work."
NRPA is proud to partner with Citi and other like-minded corporations to provide opportunities for companies to give back and reconnect with the communities they serve through local parks and recreation. This year, Citi is partnering with local park and recreation agencies in 11 cities and towns across the country.
