Students must turn four by September 1, 2016. Children attending Pre-K 4 SA must have a date of birth between 9/2/2011 and 9/1/2012.

Pre-K 4 SA is only available for four-year-olds born between 9/2/2011 and 9/1/2012.

No. Pre-K 4 SA is only available to students living within the city limits. Families living in municipalities are not eligible to participate.

Edgewood ISD, Harlandale ISD, North East ISD, Northside ISD, San Antonio ISD, South Side ISD, and Southwest ISD are participating districts. If you live in one of these districts, you are eligible to attend any Pre-K 4 SA Education Center for free. Families living in non-participating school districts are not eligible for free Pre-K 4 SA.

Any child living within the city limits of San Antonio can attend Pre-K 4 SA. However, all students from non-participating districts must pay tuition to participate in the program (even if they meet the eligibility requirements for free pre-k).

Children can qualify for free Pre-K 4 SA if they meet family income requirements, are an English language learner, are the child of a military member, are homeless, or are currently or previously were in foster care. For specific qualifications, see our Eligibility Guidelines.

Yes. if you live within the city limits of San Antonio, you can attend Pre-K 4 SA as a tuition student.

No. Applicants only need to complete the online application.

Applications for the lottery are accepted from February 2 to April 10, 2016.

Yes. All applications submitted after April 10, 2016 will be added to the waitlist. You will receive a phone call if you have been accepted off of the waitlist.

On the application, parents can select their first and second choice Education Centers. Parents also have the option to indicate “no second choice” if they are only interested in one Center. Families wishing to be considered for more than two schools can call the hotline at 210-206-PREK (7735) to add additional Centers to their application.

No. You will only be asked basic information about your family, your contact information, and your preferences for Pre-K 4 SA.

The Pre-K 4 SA Lottery is used to select students to attend the program. The Lottery also uses preferences given in the application to determine which students go to which schools.

Letters and emails will begin to be sent to Lottery selected families and waitlist families on April 12, 2016. If your letter says that you have been selected, you can schedule your registration appointment.

If you receive a letter or email that says you are the waitlist, it means you must wait to register your child. If space is available, you will be notified if your child can register.

Yes. The application only enters you into the Pre-K 4 SA Lottery. All lottery selected families must register their child.

Registration begins on April 13, 2016.

No. All lottery selected families must make an appointment to complete forms and verify documents.
