District 6 City Councilman and San Antonio-Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) Chairman Ray Lopez applauds today’s passage of a resolution to approve amendments to the membership structure of the MPO. The resolution allows for the inclusion of Comal County, Guadalupe County, a portion of Kendall County, the City of New Braunfels, and the City of Seguin.
“Today’s resolution marked a great step forward in the evolution of transportation in our region, allowing for us to become more than a one county MPO for the first time. The implications are great in terms of the way we draw down funds from the federal government, meaning that more roads in our region will get the attention they so badly need. ”
The amendments to the San Antonio-Bexar County MPO are the result of the 2010 census which identified populations along north IH-35 corridor as part of the San Antonio “urbanized area.”
