With the City of San Antonio’s new electronic volunteer application form, residents can make a difference in their community by joining the City’s Volunteer Program, which was established to encourage residents and City employees to become more actively engaged in the community. The volunteer application form is available at sanantonio.gov.
Once residents, age 14 and older, complete and submit the online form, they can search a variety of service projects and activities organized by community partners and City departments including the Library, Parks and Recreation, Animal Care Services and Development Services/Code Enforcement. Such activities include assisting with pet adoptions, landscaping and tree planting at parks, sorting book returns and greeting patrons at the Central Library and beautifying the city by abating graffiti.
On Oct.19, 2013, the City celebrated its 10th Annual Graffiti Wipeout and thanked the many volunteers who have participated in this important program to combat graffiti in neighborhoods across the city. On Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, the City will continue its anti-graffiti efforts with a mini graffiti wipeout where resident volunteers will help with painting over graffiti at specific sites in the community. Individuals interested in joining the fight against graffiti can sign up for the mini graffiti wipeout by submitting the online volunteer application form.
