Mayor’s 2013 Light Up Downtown Contest Winners Announced
Now in its third year, Mayor Julián Castro's Light Up Downtown Holiday Contest registered more than 70 downtown properties and had a record number 4,799 votes in the annual holiday contest.
The winners were as follows:
“The record number of votes reflects the progress we are making in increasing the vibrancy of downtown. Congratulations to all the participants who helped downtown shine during the holidays,” said Mayor Castro.

Critic’s Choice Award: Best Lighting Display of a Storefront – Bohanan’s
- Critic’s Choice Award: Best Lighting Display of a Building – Bexar County Courthouse
- People’s Choice Building - University Health System Robert B. Green Campus
People’s Choice Storefront - Whataburger Downtown location
People’s Choice Pop Up Shop (New Category) - Pinkberry Boutique
People’s Choice Best Use of Space - Sunset Station/St. Paul’s Square
The awards will be presented to the winners during the City Council Ceremonial agenda at City Council Chambers on Jan. 15, 2014 at 5:15 p.m.
Downtown properties, businesses, and the new Pop Up Shops were invited to participate in the competition.
