The Interstate 37 (I-37) South entrance ramp at Market Street will close beginning Monday, July 22. As part of the Market Street Realignment project, the ramp will be reconstructed closer to I-37.
All traffic leaving the downtown area by entering I-37 South will be directed down Tower of the Americas Way (formerly South Bowie Street) to the entrance ramp at Cesar Chavez Boulevard. No other entrance ramps will be affected and no exit ramps will be affected.
This information is available online at www.sanantonio.gov/CIMS or www.facebook.com/SanAntonioCIMS.
Additionally, to minimize the duration of construction, Market Street from Bowie Street to I-37 will close to all traffic on September 14, 2013. This closure will remain in place for approximately 11 months. Maps showing detours for traffic headed to northbound I-37 and southbound I-37 are available online.
The Market Street Realignment project consists of realigning Market Street to run parallel to Commerce Street, adjusting the roadway parallel to I-37 that extends from Commerce Street south to César Chávez Boulevard and creating a pedestrian walkway on Commerce Street under I-37. The project includes construction of a new roadway, installation of sidewalks, bike lanes, traffic signals, a storm drain system, utilities and landscape improvements.
