"Green" Initiatives
The Purchasing & General Services (PGS) Department is committed to seeking opportunities to encourage environmentally friendly procurement. The City of San Antonio formally adopted the Mission Verde Sustainability Plan on February 4, 2010. As a key department in the Sustainability Task Force, PGS leads by example to accomplish the goals of the plan and developed an Environmentally Preferred Purchasing Policy.
The purpose of the policy is to prompt all City staff to make every effort to minimize the environmental impact while procuring goods and services for the City of San Antonio.
