In January 2014, the Transportation & Capital Improvements (TCI) Department was created by merging together the former departments of Public Works and Capital Improvements Management Services. Our much larger department remains committed to meeting the needs of residents both in building and maintaining the infrastructure that is vital to our City.
We continue to provide every day services like pothole and signal maintenance. We also plan ahead in our 5-year rolling Infrastructure Management Program (IMP). Through the IMP, we plan the roads, alleys, drainage, sidewalks, etc. that need to be repaired over the course of the next five years. As we make progress each year, we add and adjust the plan to ensure we are always planning five years out. View our schedule.
The residents of San Antonio passed a $596 million Bond Program in May 2012. The 2012-2017 Bond Program is the largest bond in our history and will touch the lives of residents in every part of the City. Like the voter-approved $550 million 2007 - 2012 Bond Program that is wrapping up, this new series of projects are vital to keeping up with our growth. TCI is focused on ensuring the projects within both programs are delivered to the community utilizing the most efficient and effective methods. As Director, I oversee the management of these two Bond Programs, totaling more than 290 projects, and other City capital projects from the design stage through construction. We are planning to deliver quality projects on time and on budget; this undertaking is as important to me as it is to every TCI employee. For questions about projects, please call 207.8022 or view the Capital Projects Web View Tool for project status and the point of contact's number.
