San Antonio (August 1, 2014) – All lanes on Broadway and Hildebrand opened to traffic last night around 6:30 p.m. Hildebrand is fully returned to two-way traffic. New traffic signals installed as part of the project are now operational.
Some additional alternating lane closures are expected in the coming weeks to complete remaining work. Traffic in each direction will be maintained during these temporary closures.
The Broadway Corridor Phase IIIA (Broadway-Hildebrand) project built a drainage system designed to convey a 100-year storm event across Broadway Street, improving driving conditions and safety along Broadway Street and Hildebrand Avenue. This project also included reconstruction of Broadway and Hildebrand with curbs, sidewalks, driveway approaches, addition of turn lanes and traffic signal improvements. SAWS and CPS Energy replaced and adjusted the water, sewer and gas facilities throughout the project area. In addition, this project includes the construction of the approved Broadway Street/Hildebrand Avenue underground conversion project as part of the CPS Energy CIED Program to bury all overhead utility lines at the four corners of the intersection.
