San Antonio Missions World Heritage Festival 2017

Join us for the World Heritage Festival September 6 -10, 2017! The World Heritage Festival is an annual collaborative event to celebrate and promote our San Antonio Missions, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and raise funds to preserve, maintain, promote, and connect.

World Heritage Festival Press Conference

September 7, 2017

Living Heritage Symposium (Multi-Day Event)

Location: (TBD) · Time: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. · Registration Fee: (TBD)

The 1st International Living Heritage Symposium will bring together experts from around the world to discuss the identification, preservation, and promotion of cultural heritage and role in economically sustainable development.

Sunset Dinner at Mission San Juan Farm

Location: Mission San Juan, 9101 Graf Rd, San Antonio, TX 78214 · Time: 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Enjoy a picnic-style dinner at sunset, featuring foods grown at the San Juan Farm. Meals can be ordered ahead of time at San Antonio Food Bank from a half dozen of San Antonio’s favorite restaurants and available for pick-up at the event. Guests can enjoy hay-ride tours of the farm, mission tours, music, appetizers and more. The event, tours, and music begin at 6:00 p.m. with dinners available for pick up at 7:00 p.m. Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs and/or picnic blankets. Adult meals available for $75 per person and child meals are $15 per person. For more information contact the Food Bank at 210.431.8303.

Living Heritage Symposium

The 1st International Living Heritage Symposium will bring together experts from around the world to discuss the identification, preservation, and promotion of cultural heritage and role in economically sustainable development.

World Heritage Festival Luncheon

Location: (TBD) • Time: 11:30 am registration

Luncheon featuring a panel of World Heritage experts.

Restored by Light

Location: Mission Concepcion, 807 Mission Rd, San Antonio, TX 78210 • Time: 6:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Restored by Light returns to Mission Concepcion, the evening will kick off with family-friendly activities and entertainment. The event will give the community a chance to experience and enjoy Mission Concepcion in its original appearance using projection technology illumination. Tour de las Misiones Bike Ride

Time: 8:00 a.m. • Location: Mission Park Pavilion, 6030 Padre Drive

The World Heritage Bike Ride will kick off with an organized Bike Tour where registered participants will begin their 7, 14 or 22 mile ride beginning and ending at Mission Park Pavilion #1. Participants will tour the Southside of San Antonio and The Alamo stopping at each Mission. More information contact, Cristian Sandoval at 210.441.9980.

World Heritage VolksMarch Walk

Location: Mission Park Pavilion, 6030 Padre Drive • Time: 8:00 a.m.

Registered participants will enjoy a 5K and 10K Walk through San Antonio’s Mission Trails and South River Reach. The Walk will be hosted by the AVA: America’s Walking Club, and will begin and end at Mission Park Pavilion #1. For more information contact, Susan Medlin or visit AVA.

World Heritage Festival Mission Pachanga

Location: Mission Park Pavilion, 6030 Padre Drive • Time: 10:00 a.m.

As part of the World Heritage Festival, Mission Pachanga will celebrate our Missions’ designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site by bringing together musicians and local artists to highlight the distinct and diverse spirit of our city, rich in history, folk-art, and musical tradition. This family-friendly event will feature local art and activities from vendors, food trucks, and musical performances from three fun, upbeat acts. Free.

September 10, 2017

Celebratory Mass

Location: Mission Concepcion, 807 Mission Rd, San Antonio, TX 78210 • Time: 10:00 a.m.

In partnership with Las Misiones, a celebratory mass will take place in recognition of the World Heritage UNESCO designation as a World Heritage Site. Sunday Mass will be held at Nuestra Señora de la Purísma Concepción.
